What makes Stormbird Entertainment worth our investment?

Our care and concern for your special event is second only to your own. We are able to bring our experience from hundreds of performances to your one special night. This means we make your vision of the perfect celebration a reality. Our fresh look brings a new definition to “experienced DJ.” Our DJ's have been entertaining for over 10 years; but there is nothing old about our company. Our systems are state-of-the-art and of course each DJ is experienced and can read a crowd. We believe that being a successful disc jockey requires musical expertise, customer service satisfaction, and professionalism.

Is setup time included in your price?

Generally, we will setup during the day if possible.  If we cannot setup during the day, we will arrive at least an hour early to setup.  The same occurs at the end.  We will not start packing up 30 minutes before the scheduled ending time. When your event finishes, we do!

I've been to plenty of Weddings, but what is the procedure?

All weddings are a very individual and personal event.  We have put together a list of the most common procedures for the reception.  Please download it Here.

Do you take breaks?

Our services are non-stop. From our start time to our finish time we will never pause to take a break, unless for speeches etc.

Can we choose the music to be played at our event?

We've had clients that have chosen every song for the entire event and others that have left the music selection completely up to us. Our recommendation is to provide us with a list of "must play" songs and list of "play if possible" songs. This will leave plenty of room for the DJ to read the crowd and play what he or she feels will get the crown jumping.

We have heard the stories about a local DJ that tells you what he will play because he is the professional that knows what you want to hear!!!  We play what you and your crowd want to hear and our personal music preferences do not influence our selections.

Can we have a "do not play" list?

Sometimes the do not play list is equally important or more important than the request list itself! We understand that you really don't want to hear the song you and your ex partner danced to.

What if we want a song that you don't have?

While our 5,000 song music library encompasses the widest variety of hits from the 1950s to today, it's likely you may have a few unusual requests that we do not generally carry. We would be more than happy to play your CD. As you're making your request list, simply indicate which songs you'll be providing, if we have the song we will let you know, otherwise we are more than happy to play your CD. You can bring your CDs to us at the start of the event and we'll return them to you at the end of the night.

How loud do you play the music through the night?

One of the greatest complaints is that the music is played too loud. It doesn't have to be that way!  During pre-drinks and dining hours, the background music will be played at a comfortable level that will not interrupt your guests but help create a warming atmosphere.  When the time comes to party, our DJ will play the music at a level that can be danced to without your internal organs vibrating to the beat of the music (unless you want it that way!)

Do you hang any banners or other advertisements?

No. Referral's represent the majority of our business, we believe that our services speak for themselves, we do not want to push our advertising into your guests face, the day is yours. We will not hang any banners or signs on our equipment.  The absolute extent of our "advertising" is an unobtrusive stack of business cards next to our equipment.

Can we meet our DJ before booking?

This is a very understandable concern. We have heard horror stories from local people who employed a well known DJ only to find that someone else turned up on the night, or even gone home after a couple of hours and got his nephew to fill in. Fortunately, our team of dedicated professionals have been entertaining for years.  All of our DJ's have Pub, Nightclub and Mobile Disco experience. When we do start a new DJ he or she is supervised through our Nightclub contracts before then being supervised at a Mobile and finally once our management is confident in their ability, they are let to fly solo at a mobile.

Typically our DJs are assigned at random to events about 1 month prior. If you have heard about or seen one of our DJs and would specifically like them to provide the entertainment for your event, please let us know who it is and we will do our best to free them for your event.  From that point, you can work with your specific DJ every step of the way, having plenty of opportunity to share with them exactly how you'd like your event to proceed.

How far will you travel?

We travel to anywhere in Kalgoorlie/Boulder free of charge.  Travel to Kambalda and Coolgardie attracts an additional $50 Charge.  Travel to other parts of the Goldfields is charged at $20 per hour and 50 cents per kilometer.  If your venue is more than 100km from Kalgoorlie, there may also be an accommodation charge.

Do you offer a contract or written agreement?

Yes. Every mobile disco requires a written contract.  Our contract is straightforward and written in plain English so that you can understand the terms before signing by both parties. The contract provides Stormbird Entertainment assurances, but more importantly, the contract assures you that there will be no hidden extra charges or surprises at your event. A signed contract and deposit reserves your date.  A copy will be provided to yourself shortly after booking.

Should we provide a meal for the DJ?

It is completely up to you. With setup and takedown time, we'll often be at your event for 8 hours. We request that you let us know either way ahead of time. This way we can stop and grab something along the way if necessary. If you choose to provide a meal for the DJ, we would greatly appreciate it. We suggest not including the Dj in your meal head count as one guest generally doesn't show.

How much is the deposit and when is the final payment due

When you book your event, the manager will prepare you a quote and will inform you at the time how much your deposit will be and when it is due. It is usually $100-$200 but it may differ depending on your event. Holding deposits are compulsory to secure your date, and if we don not receive a deposit from you we are not obligated to hold you booking for more than 14 days prior to your event.

How early should we book?

The sooner the better! Some dates can be booked out as early as 18 months in advance. Our suggestion is to be prepared to sign a contract as early as possible. However, having said that, we are occasionally un-booked and more than happy to take a booking at short notice.

Are your rates negotiable?

Our rates are the lowest in the Goldfields.  We do not believe that we should over charge because there is a perceived monopoly.  Our pricing is based on our cost of doing business as well as the value we place on the job. We take all events seriously and attend to each in a personalized, professional manner.
